DAY 4 / 21 : SELF CARE
Here’s the thing about self care that gets a little hazy. Sometimes self care is giving your body what it wants. And sometimes self care is giving your body what it needs.
If you think that self care is spending an entire weekend on the couch, snacking on all things sweet or salty, then I want you to ask yourself how much that really is caring for yourself. . .
I’m not trying to call anyone out. I’m also not trying to pretend that I don’t binge Netflix or that I don’t eat something greasy when I go out with my friends. I am completely aware that cutting out those things completely is unsustainable as a lifestyle, and can grow into more unhealthy habits.
Here’s what I am saying: self care looks like more than sleeping in. It looks like motivating yourself to do something that your future self will be thankful for.
This includes everything from working out, to getting ahead on the next week’s workload, to budgeting your money (yikes, that’s calling myself out), to investing in your relationships, to doing simple house chores that you’ve been putting off, and so much more.
Self care is a concept that is easily misconstrued. What can you do today that will benefit your future self? While I still have a super long way to go in a lot of areas, I’m choosing to start by investing 30 minutes of my day into my health, so that I will be able to give the best version of me to my future family and future career.

Leaving behind people, habits, careers, environments, thoughts & beliefs can be extremely difficult but necessary if they don’t align with your values and how you want your life to be. Never feel bad about leaving these things in order to grow, to be happy, to be healthy and to become the best version of yourself! It’s not giving up, it’s getting what you deserve 💛
