Welp. A solo lunch can be great for one’s creativity. It's only Tuesday, and I already have so much to share with you! So many great nuggets of wisdom to write about…
• Writing the experience when it's fresh
• Diving deeper into the stories you’re telling
• EMBRACING critique because it just makes us SO much better!
• Setting time blocks for creativity because we NEED the time to produce the best possible product for our clients and allowing time to dance around it, thus combining strategy and creativity.
• The importance of limiting the number of creative projects you take within a specific time frame to deliver the BEST possible results.
So much to expand upon. Where should I start? 😃
___ received the pictures back from @iconic_lights today from our photoshoot ➕ Love this plug in wall light, so stylish! ➕ I’ve been adding plug in lights to a lot of my designs concepts recently as I think generally the styles are getting better and they just look 👌🏻 #brandyourspace •

"All inventive and creative people, they're not hung up on fixed definitions of what any form of life or reality may be"
CREATIVITY 👈 one of my favorite topics of exploration. It surrounds us in everything we do, is inherit in everyone (arguably whether they know it or not) and is the reason our world has progressed the way it has. I recently watched the documentary "In Search For Greatness" on how creativity has contributed heavily to the success of many infamous professional athletes --- it brought up a few really strong points on how we approach creativity today which got my head moving >>> 👉 Everything is so analytical now - "We have a desire to validate everything with data...But sometimes It's backward...We start making something important because we can measure it"
As a creative strategist this hit me. In marketing/advertising we're pushed to validate EVERYTHING and taught "If you can't measure it, you can't improve it" true, BUT does this hinder the creative process? Are we less prone to think outside the box because we need to associate numbers to it? Are we becoming too risk adverse on a macro level? 👉 "...Creativity and imagination that we had in the 60s, 70s, 80s was different. Kids today have on avg. less unstructured time than the average prison." (YIKES)
There is a great deal of creativity and imagination I had to have to become the athlete I became" For kids, they need creativity and less boundary to think outside the box. They need unstructured time." - Wayne Gretzky
With the rat race we’re in between careers, activities of all kinds and media influence - are we leaving enough time for unstructured play? The SAME goes for us as adults - how do we "play" in ways that further our development of creative ideas and refresh our thinking.
I’d recommend giving it a watch on @Netflix. The one qualm has was that it could have highlighted more female athletes. I would have liked to understand differences in the way females and males think about creativity. I’ll wait for the sequel 💁🏼♀️ What is your favorite film or read on creativity and innovation? 👇🏼
