It is so exciting that soon we’ll be launching our new business husen&mugs - a dream finally coming true. We’re working hard to bring life to your home and table with our beautifully handcrafted #ceramics and carefully selected #homegoods. Follow us along to be one of the first people discovering bespoke #tableware that will bring a whole heap of joy to your everyday life! The website & online shop will be launching soon!
You’ve been asking and we listened! Our addicting Face + Body Creams have now DOUBLED in size. We will be switching from our 2oz glass jars to our 4oz frosted glass jars. Both are available now for purchase in the shop but we will be switching permanently to the larger jars. Website will be updated this week!
Little family of mugs.
Today will be spent packing orders, loading the kiln with these and a few planters and reclaiming some clay.
I’ve invested in a batt system from @hartleyandnoble which means I’m able to throw this tall cylinder shape and it won’t (hopefully) warp in the firing from having to wire it off the wheel. Im throwing with much less clay (roughly a pound for these mugs pictured for anyone wanting to know 😌) which should mean less reclaiming old clay. The whole throwing process is much quicker and less space is taken up drying freshly thrown pots. All in all I’m really pleased with my little mid year treat to myself.
I’m feeling more and more drawn to a minimal ascetic; keeping the form simple and clean. I don’t know how the gold will look on these but I have a few ideas and I’m excited to try them.
Oh Rita Skirts, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways: I love your classic midi length to be worn with heels, sneakers and flip flops alike. Your gathered, fitted waist. I love your buttons half way down so I can flash a little leg without having to shave my legs all the way to the thigh. And most of all I love your pockets deep enough for hiding haribo sweets when I’m caught snaffling them by a pre-schooler. Oh, Rita skirts, I love thee with the breath, Smiles, tears, of all my life. (Ok, the first and last bits are from Elizabeth Barrett Browning’s Sonnet 43 but I think it still applies to skirts too? 🤔)
New papercut finished, and added to the pile of things I still need to put in frames 😆
I am loving making these pieces that feel like little snapshots of the forgotten and abandoned being taken over by the wild. I am thinking of calling this series ‘relics’. Thoughts? 🤷🏻♀️
On of the biggest surprises and our favorite thing we found when started this business was the support and friendship we found with other makers! One of our favorite ways of meeting new makers is through our #maketradeshare group! The makers in this group are so incredibly talented! But more importantly they’re kind, supportive, and so fun!
And good news...if you’re a maker our group is open for new members right now! Check out this post @pinkrobyndecor for more info on how to apply! And be sure to scroll through to see a few of our most recent trades...and give them all a follow if you don’t already! You’ll love them all!💗
Finally finished with this sweet snake! The leaves were inspired by several of the beautiful plants found at the United States Botanic Garden here in DC-one of my favorite places to go draw and explore.
There are 6 little monstera leaves dancing around this mug! It took forever, but I’m happy with it!! .
Restock will be this Friday! 5pm AZ MST early access for email list and 530pm AZ MST for everyone else! Sign up for early access is in bio!
Snuck away to Sweden for a few days and already lost my phone.... so heartwarming that good honest people are still to be found and kindly turned it in.... Whoever you are I thank you🖤 .
✨SPARKLE SOAP✨ Green apple, lemon drop, cotton candy with a bright, nose-tickling, effervescent champagne finish. This is what magic smells like. Available NOW I’m the shop coming soon to the website ✨ 🦄 ✨
Another gorgeous sunny day here. Trying to make the most of the last few days before school breaks up.
But what to prioritise? Getting supplies in and the house into some kind of order or making the most of the peace while it lasts...?
Is deleting nearly your entire Instagram feed as a response to an existential crisis the new drastic hair cut/colour change? 🤷🏻♀️
Everything about social media/engagement/reach/blah/blah/blah/etc has been making me go through it, but no need to worry, I've got a renewed sense of "frick you, algorithm" flowing through my veins!!
Did you know we handcraft each & every pillow cover ourselves? We do absolutely no outsourcing to big manufacturers or overseas. We make every cover in house, carefully constructing each piece to be beautiful but durable, using the finest quality materials & a well-trained eye to give you products that will last beyond a season. We take a lot of pride in our work, we hope it shows. 💛
Plywood and Birks. It’s all glamor, all the time over here. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Having a mini shop update soon with a few new mugs and a few more pieces for the seconds shop. Be on the newsletter to get notified when it’s live.
Can I just take a minute to say it’s ok to take your time growing and becoming at the pace that works for you? This reminder is probably mostly for me. I get DM’s and emails all the time promising to grow my business, get x number of followers, be bigger, better, faster, etc. I don’t care about any of that. Not really. What I do care about: making something I’m proud of at a pace that feels sustainable and life giving, where I can have dinner with my kids, watch bees in the garden, take a day sometimes to be in the woods with my favorite people. I can only do that which is meaningful and necessary if I also make time to do nothing special except that which makes me happy. “Self care is a radical act.” Audrey Lorde 📷 @jennikupelian
Back in Portland from a very fun Seattle trip. Hope you all enjoyed the stories version. 14 year olds know how to bring the energy to a trip, that’s for sure. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Pulling together my pile of seconds and discontinued pieces for an online seconds sale on Monday to raise money for @aclu_nationwide and @yellowfund. Some of my very favorite local potters,
@victoriabuchler, @stoneandsagepottery, and @niko_ware are all having sales too and we’re all going live at noon this Monday. Tag a friend in the comments who loves pottery and supports reproductive freedom for everyone. ❤️
