My little Skye turns 16 today. 16 is a big birthday to some but feels like a massive milestone to us. It was at 16 years old I found out I was going to be a mother to a beautiful daughter.
People will always tell me Skye is a credit to me. I however believe in the old proverb "It takes a village to raise a child". Every person who has been part of our journey over the years has shaped this little girl in to the beauty of a young woman she is now. From people who praised us, loved us and joined in our journey through to the ones who ridiculed, judged and thought we'd never make it. Every experience has made us who we are as mother and daughter and I wouldn't change one part of it for the world.
To the ones who always love her, people from past and present, each and every one of you who had an influence on Skye, I'd like to thank you all.
She's an amazing girl. Beautiful, loving, kind, witty, sarcastic, intelligent, talented... The list could go on forever.
She's the little girl who came along and changed my whole world and I couldn't be more proud ♥️ She might be a credit to me, but I'm also a credit to her. She shaped me and made me the mother, and human, I am today. ♥️ #sweetsixteen#mydaughter#myworld#happybirthday#teenager#motherofteenagers#weirdfamily#truelove#emotional#Scottishgirls#tattooedparents#tattooedparentsdoitbetter#blueeyes#babygirl#beautiful#tattooedwomen#tattooedgirls#strongwomen#tattooedgirls#ourjourney#proud#proudfamily
🌎 TAG 46 🌎 Koh Phangan ...
#justbackpacker#weltreise2019#worltrip#travelgram#travelphotography#kohphangan#thailand#beautifulthailand#travelblogger#travel#ourjourney
5am and Corey strolls into my bedroom wearing a dressing up costume and tells me he’s been awake ages choosing the best outfit to wear today 🙈 5AAMMM!! I remember a time where autism stopped him wearing costumes autism made him absolutely freak out and melt down over just looking at them. I remember with his pre school the whole school infact were dressing up and I sobbed as he wouldn’t/couldn’t bare to join in and wear a costume. He hated the material he hated the thought of becoming a character. Even seeing them in a shop were end with screaming and vomiting. I couldn’t let it carry on he was only 2-3 years. I decided to slowly introduce them not because I wanted him to wear dressing up outfits but because I didn’t want him forever feeling left out and I didn’t want clothes and fabrics to rule his life. I would each day hang a costume up in the house visible so it became normal to have it in his space, I’d then over weeks encourage touching the fabrics nothing enforced just little by little, I’d find shorts the same material or T-shirt’s with characters on and buy them so the fabric and characters became normal. Then months later I went the toilet and came back in to him wearing the buzz costume. I remember freezing staring wanting to cheer the house down then quickly catching myself not to make a big deal. I didn’t say a word but then happy danced and cried in the kitchen gob smacked he’d done it phoning everyone whilst I sobbed! ... Here we are today aged 5 and he lives for costumes and character items he begs for them he wears them everywheree!! And as I lay there watching him having a morning cuddle I thought we did it kid you did it we’ve over come so many things and I have no doubt your going to do great things my boy 💙 #autism

These past few years has been amazing! Thank you to the BFA students and #sjsu for making these years the best! We are all on the same journey as creative artist. We learned a lot from each other and grew together. What an amazing experience!

We must believe in luck for how else can we explain the success of those we don't like?

Today makes 6mths since this pic, and it’s probably the best I could have looked at this point, to document a #pic .
~A reminder that no one person life is as perfect, flawless, or magical and happy as it’s made to seem. ~This is a reminder of how far I’ve come, the immense battles and struggles that we all face from time to time, this being my biggest one yet ♥️
This makes me so proud to have the courage, faith, strength and utmost resilience to overcome the challenge, win and be better than ever. 💯💪🏻
It’s also a reminder that sadly some are not as fortunate as me 😔
The biggest joy in all of this was seeing and knowing how amazing my support team was, and saying thank you #lord for my blessings.
My biggest blessings had names: @the_real_ria_karim @tonyhsingh , my fave #doctor @t.ishy and ofc my MOM ♥️
Thank you all immensely for being there as much as you guys did. 🙏🙏 *** Proud to say 6mths after i am 100 steps further than they said I’d be. **********************
~ Everyone has their journey and this is mine, with God we can do anything, and happiness is ours to make 🙌🏻
Wall install today! Stairway landings are a awesome place to hang your family images! “Let Your Family be Your Art” 😉
Home again! Emerson did so so much better with getting the electrodes hooked up this time. And is handling having them on and is playing so much better than I anticipated 🙌🏻 now just to get good results 🙏🏻 and hope I can sleep tonight instead of laying awake all night
I experienced my first proper tantrum in public today (Harry, not me)... I actually thought I’d experienced a tantrum out before but after today I can safely say it was the first 😂
It started with Harry wanting to walk round the mall so I got him out of the high chair for a wander.. he took off so I followed him, I tried a few times to get him to come the other way.. I did the whole “bye I’m going” 👋🏼 and he just cheekily smiled and kept on walking (I swear I’ve seen that work before😂). He had plans of his own to exit the mall into the car park. When I scooped him up he didn’t like that, so I carried him back to the pram with him making siren like noises and flapping like a fish in my arms.
You know that feeling when your throat closes up a bit your face gets hot and your eyes sting a tad and all you can think of is ‘don’t make eye contact with anyone’? that was me 😂😂 .. for the marathon walk with my giant baby 💪🏼
I’m sure everyone thought 5 is a bit old to be having a tantrum, but he’s not even 2 and just a unit 🙈 #helooksolder#luckyhescute
Not sure where I'd be in this world if I didn't have him 💕
I have to say one of the best things about my health and fitness journey is that I'm not doing it alone! I'm so thankful and beyond grateful to have him by my side.
We have our own separate goals, but we push each other every day to eat right, and workout. Sometimes it's all together, but most of the time we have to do it separately. But we check in throughout the day and make it work for us.
Grab your spouse, partner, friend, family member, or co-worker and start living your most happy, healthy life!
Can't think of anyone who would want to join you? That's fine too!! Just message me or drop a 🍓 because I would LOVE to be there for YOU too!! 👊🏻💪🏻
Sorry for the bad quality, this is an old video of Dex when he was 18 months (he is now 5 and a half).
A bit of a back story on Dex and his development: by age 2 there are a certain amount of words that a ‘normal’ kid should say, and Dex had less than what was expected. However, by 2 he could count forwards and backwards to 30 and his obsession with the alphabet was well on its way. He could recite the alphabet forwards and backwards as well as identify any letter or number out of sequence. He would also find letters in places where others would likely not, for example seeing a ‘V’ in a tree branch.
After he turned 3 he we realized he could read and he also began to write. It was around that time that we also discovered he had the most incredible photographic memory (but that’s a story for another time). By 3 he also knew all of the advanced shapes and could count forward and backwards by twos, fives, and ten and was reading letters and numbers everywhere we went. He started going to daycare two days a week about four months after he turned 3, and that was when his communication and social skills started to improve.
Our New Project drops soon just in time to take the Summer @djkadizzle_876
It’s been a journey and the journey continues as we put the work in. #bigdreams
There are moments in life I wouldn’t trade for the world. The simplest ones. Sitting on the rocking chair while Geoff reads books to us and Scarlett holds her hands on my belly and her baby brother is a recent favorite. Scarlett telling daddy she loves him and reaching up for him to pick her up. Daddy always making sure he gives me lots of kisses and hugs and that Scarlett is around to see them. I have always believed you have to be thankful for what you have every single day, be thankful for the little things every single day. For what you focus on is what becomes bountiful. 🙏🏼
