REPOST - PLEASE FOLLOW @stacysatmelrose - Let's all remember why June is Pride Month. There are several reasons I'd like to share.
On June 28, 1969, a fight started at The Stonewall Inn, a gay bar in NYC. When the police demanded drag queens to prove their gender by forcing them into the restrooms to be strip searched and other patrons refused to provide identification, that's when ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE and continued for three days. The gays had had enough and were not going to put up with this discrimination any longer!
This is when Gay Pride & the fights for equal rights came to the forefront of national attention in a very big way! Remember, things were very different back then and we need to acknowledge the courage it took for these people to stand up for all of us. In those days, being outed as a homosexual could cost you your home, your job, your freedom when you were sent to jail and even your life.
Secondly, on June 12, 2016, at 2:02am ET, a man entered the Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Florida & opened fire. In a matter of just over three hours he murdered 49 people. He left survivors, families and friends of those murdered with lifetimes of pain and grief.
Again, in June, this time in 1981, the first case of what would become known as AIDS was diagnosed in the US. Hence, National HIV Testing Day is now on June 27th.
All of this makes me angry and it should make all of you angry as well!
Come and join us in remembrance of Stonewall, Pulse & National HIV Day in memory of all we have lost & all of those who continue to fight.
How about we ask you to join us at 7:00 pm this Saturday? We will be showing a small clip of the Stonewall riots and the HRC remembrance video of the Pulse event. We are going to have a few speakers to help pay tribute to these events of our history.
SW Center for HIV/AIDS program, Ignite, will be with us to do some HIV & PrEP counseling. They will also do free HIV testing all night.
Stacy's will have various drink specials on this night from 7:00pm to close.
Please share this post with all of your friends... Stacy
We demolished 8 multi-story structures with heights up to 60ft once known as La Placita Village Complex, clearing the way for luxury apartments in the heart of downtown Tucson. Several adjacent historical buildings dating back to the late 19th century were preserved during the demolition.
Kershaw-Greinke. A showdown of Cy Young winners, right? Each gives up 3 runs in first, then largely settle down (although Kershaw gave up a (cheap) HR to Greinke). But down two guys and with Joe Kelly not to be trusted, the Dodger bullpen implodes in the 8th and LA loses 8-5.⠀
The Dbacks remain 14 games behind the Dodgers, who are also 12 ahead of 2nd place Colorado.⠀
Can you spot the real pup? 🐶
Tucker, (Our Vice President Linda’s dog), fit right in with his new friends!🐶🐶🐶🐶
Thank you to Kathy Tomick for the cute donation of plush puppies. We know they’ll be a big hit this holiday season. 🐾
This is Gibson. Gibson is at @aawlspca right now looking for his forever home! This little guy is 4 years old and pretty easygoing. He enjoys attention and would love to sit with you while you read a book, listen to a podcast, or watch some @netflix in bed.
If you think Gibson would be the perfect new family member for your home, check him out at aawl.org or visit him at the Arizona Animal Welfare League main shelter in Phoenix! If you just want to watch him (and a few more adorable pups) being cute while @lexifaustmusic and I sing to you, check out the link in my bio!

oh hey guys it’s me, just over here wondering when this whole daycare thing gets easier 😅 Haze only goes 2 days a week but MAN is it hard. I have to talk myself into taking her every time. my fellow parents - tell me the drop off part gets less painful eventually. I’m feeling like it’s harder for me than it is for her 🙈 also her lil fingerprints on the mirror make me miss her ugh!!!! #wheremybabyat
I love relaxing with with coffee local papers...and I still like to read a physical paper or magazine. Although I adore @kindle and @audible and devour books electronically, there is something about a newspaper that I just don't want to read it online.
I spent the morning at another of my @palisadesvillage favorites, @the_draycott, reliving UK vibes from when we lived in London and reading the local Pali papers. One area I do love that has electronic crossover is the promotion of local brands and events. Any opportunity to find out about something new to explore or try around town and I'm in!
At home in Arizona I love using @avontage - it's a local platform where businesses promote themselves and let you know, in detail, what they offer. Everything from restaurants to spas, dining and excursions...they have it all. I've been fortunate enough to be invited to try several of their providers and I'm a convert! Everything they've offered has been high quality and the providers have been great to work alongside! You can buy offers via credit card - or if you have a service to offer you can earn Avon-bucks and trade services from there.
Special for all of my Arizona friends...or those who may be visiting sometime soon, I'm giving all of you a free $200 of Avon-credits when you sign up. Swipe up on the link in my stories and start saving and exploring now! You'll also get a glimpse of some of their summer offerings. Personally, I'd use those to head right over to spa services, but that's just me! 🤷🏼♀️ I know you guys are going to love it as much as I do!
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE TOP ITEMS ON YOUR BUCKET LIST!? 🧡💛 Some of mine include: seeing/photographing all the wonders of the world, swimming with humpback whales, and going on a safari in Africa! Another one on top of my list was to ride in a HOT AIR BALLOON, and I was lucky enough to check this one off on my birthday! Rhett surprised me with the ride and he also made a super good video of our weekend that is up on our YouTube channel(link in bio)! Let me know what’s on your bucket list in the comments! I will be posting the ones that I want to add to my own in my stories! #presetsbybrooke#bucketlistitem#hotairballooning
