Dreaming of waking up to this again 😍
We had a delightful day out at the Black Country Museum to finish off our #staycation (A little late posting 🙄 sorry about that!) What a wonderful place! The girls absolutely loved going back in time, wandering around all the houses and shops and finding out how people lived back then, it was fascinating! They had fun visiting the old sweet shop and choosing from all the old fashioned sweets. We enjoyed a yummy traditional fish n chip lunch. We visited a preacher in his caravan and played some music. But the highlight was definitely watching a man making nails, the girls were delighted when he let them keep them!
One more night of my “staycation” I have had the best time on a date with myself 💃🏼 I highly recommend it to all those moms out there, a way to connect back to yourself and how amazing your own company can be and also to appreciate utter and beautiful silence 😂 👩👧👧 #singlemom#datemyself#dateyourcity#sydney#staycation

Trade in Khiva
Trade was the main source of income in Khiva. At the beginning of the nineteenth century, Mukhammad Rakhim Kungrad, widened trade by granting the Turkmen the possibility to buy bread in Khiva, and together they began ensuring the safety of the Khiva caravan through the territory of present-day Turkmenistan.
The market was of great importance in the life of Khiva; it consisted of two covered narrow streets with a number of specialized shops and workshops on both sides of the streets. The Khiva market was quite busy, and was considered by many the equal of the market in Bukhara. As power was centralized the Khiva Khanate, it became possible to think about increasing home and foreign trade. The small bazaar could not meet the needs of the population and in the 1930s and its area was considerably widened. For it they chose an area in the eastern outskirts of the city where there was a lake. The inhabitants of Khiva worked hard for forty-five days to cover the lake and there they erected a new row of shops. A special tax was traditionally levied for using the bazaar. The caravans started from Khiva in different directions with various goods, although the roads were not always safe. Concerning one of the caravans, the historian Munis wrote: Two hundred merchants of Khorezm fitted out a big caravan with numerous expensive goods in 1219 H. (1804-1805). When the caravan went out of Men/ in the direction of Meshed and reached Serakhsa region it was attacked by the Salir tribe that lived there. The Khiva merchants offered the attacking groups a determined resistance.
Hello LeMeridien Putrajaya! It's feel good to be back!
The history of Khiva
The history of Khiva goes back centuries. Nobody knows exactly when this city sprang up, but the legends have it that once a son of the biblical hero Noah, Shem ordered to dig a well. By the way, this ancient well still exists in Ichan-Kala (the inner city) these days. But throughout its history up to 1598 Khiva was a small town in the desert, which was found on the way of caravans passing through Khorezm. At that time, it was often destroyed by various invaders: Alexander the Great, the Arabs, led by Qutayba ibn Muslim, Genghis Khan, Amir Timur, and many others intruded into this land.
But in 1598 Khiva became the capital of the Khanate of Khiva, because the Amu Darya River had changed its course, and destroyed the former capital Kunya-Urgench. Khiva gradually developed into a small but well-fortified city, which at the same time became a spiritual center of the Islamic world. Nevertheless, slave trade was flourishing in Khiva long enough - Khiva raiders drove people from the southern regions of Russia and Persia into slavery. This caused the Russian Empire in 1873, to organize a military campaign to do away with a flesh-traffic in Central Asia. And as a consequence of it, the Khanate of Khiva was annexed to the Government-General of Turkestan.
In 1919, the Red Army of the newly formed Soviet Union overthrew the last khan, and in 1920 Khiva became the capital of Khorezm People's Soviet Republic. In 1924, the city became the administrative center of the Khorezm region in Uzbekistan. In 1991 Uzbekistan gained independence, and Khiva became one of the country’s major tourist centers. Indeed, today, in Uzbekistan, there is hardly a place, that would have such a concentration of different landmarks.
Legend about Khiva
There are many interesting legends that tells about the origin of Khiva. Allegedly, the city grew around the well Hewvakh, with tasty and cool water. The well was dug by the order of Shem, the elder son of Biblical Noah. Today one can see this well in the old part of Khiva, Itchan-Kala.
Khiva - a unique city, rightfully claiming the title of "the seventh wonder of the world", thanks to its authentic atmosphere of the 'era of the beginning of time. " Most of the city of Khiva is similar to the open-air museum. And the nucleus of this museum - castle Itchan-Kala. It is inside this fortress concentrated all the architectural masterpieces of Khiva. Everyone who enters the fortress, are among the marvelous minarets, stone-paved alleys curves, leading to a madrassa with lacy rough mosaic of the ancient walls. This oriental tale! In 1990 the city was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The most beautiful bar 💙 A few weekends ago I was finally able to visit the lovely @things_infront_of_other_things at his new home city of Sheffield. It's the first time that I'd actually been to this part of the country, despite having lived her my whole life, and I had a wonderful time visiting all the main attractions of Sheffield, whilst catching up 💕 I think when we plan holidays, it's easy to forget that there is an entire country on your doorstep, most of which you have never seen, so I am trying to maybe visit more of Great Britain for my weekends and see what other gems I can discover! 💙
Everywhere you look... the scenery is like an oil painting here 😍
