Hello summer beauty! Did you know that aloe is the most reached-for after sun moisturizer? Don’t just take our word for it, the American Academy of Dermatology endorses the use of aloe as an herbal remedy for sun exposure, too. We curated a Day in the Sun Bliss Box that features a cooling aloe gel that is enhanced with spirulina for extra hydration. It’s only available until the 29th or when they sell out - less than 1500 of these boxes are left in our warehouse. If you’re curious about the aloe gel or that citrusy jar of Strawberry Lemonade 🍓🍋 Body Polish (swipe left for the entire box contents), comment below or msg me. I’ll hook you up so you don’t miss out on this collection.
We put a message in our bottle... and it’s all about authentically sharing the love. Be you and make sure you bring @appleplaya to your next beach day celebration. What is your fondest memory of Apple Playa?

Tanning: Myth vs. Reality
There are tons of rumors out there regarding tanning, and I'm here to fact check all of them! 🤜🏻 Check out my myth vs. reality below to get the lowdown on that sunkissed glow. ☀️ FYI: I'm not actually tan here - it's the beauty of the modern day spray tan.
❌MYTH: Getting a base tan before a sunny vacation is protective
✅REALITY: Absolutely not! A tan only offers ~4 SPF, which is not nearly enough protection again the sun. A tan is your body's defense mechanism to desperately fight UV rays. A tan ▶️ damage to the DNA▶️skin cancer risk
❌MYTH: Tanning is needed to improve vitamin D levels
✅REALITY: While most of us who live in non-sunny places (like Pittsburgh) are vitamin D deficient, tanning is not the way to improve levels. 5-10 minutes of sun exposure a day is sufficient. Vitamin D is also easily correctable with diet or daily supplementation
❌MYTH: Anything about SPF 15 doesn't matter
✅REALITY: Most derms recommend at LEAST an SPF of 30, which protects against 97% of the sun's rays. Anything above 30 is beneficial for those with photosensitive diseases like rosacea
❌MYTH: The higher SPF sunscreens last longer
✅REALITY: Higher SPF does NOT equal longer protection. You must still apply every 2 hours or after swimming
❌MYTH: Layering different SPF sunscreens is additive
✅REALITY: The SPF factor is only as strong as the highest SPF applied (i.e. layering an SPF 20 and SPF 30 does not equal SPF 50)
❌MYTH: You don't need sunscreen if it's cloudy or you're only outside for a short time
✅REALITY: UV damage and sunburns can occur within 15 minutes. Even on cloudy days, up to 80% of the sun's UV rays can reach you. .
It's time to ditch the your tans forever. It's just not safe. Still craving that sun kissed glow? 🌞 Try a spray tan🤷🏻♀️
Getting that sun daze on with step papa! Lady Bago is green and literally 2 boats out!
Suntan or spray tan? Which do you prefer? I’ve personally avoided spray tan products because I am concerned about the chemicals.
I feel like as long as I am using a good Non-toxic sunscreen- my skin is safe, AND I’m getting some beneficial vitamin D which can only come from the sun.
Plus, a real tan lasts longer.
What are your thoughts? ☀️ 🏊♀️ 🏝
