👵🏼 🔪 Title is perfect. Cover is perfect. Maud is perfect. I have honestly never felt so justified in cheering for a murderer as I have with this book. This little old lady is LETHAL, and her age (late 80's) and infirmity (mostly faked) are the perfect defenses. If you are looking for something deeper in this book, I can assure you that my mind went often to the invisibility of older people in our society. While Maud surely took that to her advantage, it is something I think about often especially when I'm out and about with my Oma. Ponder that issue while delighting in Maud's perfect solution to every one of life's annoyances - murder.
If you like murder mysteries and/or cozies, this short story collection is a must-read - it's a tiny little book (literally - it's the size of my hand) with 5 short stories, and is translated from Swedish. The stories were all previously published in other publications, which is why there is a little bit of repetition of backstory in several stories - that doesn't detract from the collection at all, but is worth mentioning.
If you are doing the Modern Mrs. Darcy Reading Challenge and need a book in translation, I highly recommend making this your pick! It's also a great choice for the "A translated book written by and/or translated by a woman" prompt for the Book Riot Read Harder Challenge 2019. @bookriot@annebogel#mmdreadingchallenge2019#mmdreading#bookriot
Andres Pira lived homeless on the beach for some time after booking a one-way ticket to Thailand with the last few dollars he had.
Desperate for money, Andres asked his friend to borrow some.
The friend didn't give him any
But what he gave him was much more powerful than that.
What Andres' friend gave him was something that changed his life forever, and has caused Andres to become a billionaire. A founder of 19 companies. And real estate guru.
His friend said, "I won’t give you any money, but I’ll give you a book that might help you."
That's the power of having the right information from the right mentor.
Andres has a truly inspiring story, and one that shouldn't be taken lightly.
So what book are you reading right now?
Comment below and let me know.
If you're not reading one, let me know what book you plan on reading next.
I want to thank @dapperdanharlem for posting this statement and letting us know #gucci has given a formal apology. You have always been a muse of mine. I also received a lot of information from his statement as to how and why aspiring black entrepreneurs such as myself haven’t elevated or how we can elevate in the future with the proper support . My line is my more to me than just something on the sell. I customized my line to feature poetry on the back that gives people who I aim to inspire and encourage through good and hard times. I have a long way to go. But I have not stopped I invested 100% of my own money with the support of my friends family and poetry community. I am grateful to see my seed grow. From classic tees to trucker hats and sweats shorts and hoodies. Thank you to everyone from California Atl Nyc Washington DC. Florida Australia London for supporting me. My day 1s and my future endeavors. #platinumdiamondmamiinc by #minisathepoet@diamondmamipoems #author#poetess#entrepreneurmindset 🙏🏽😌 #poet#poet#poetry#poetsofinstagram #TagsForLikes #words#poems #wordporn#writersofig #words#spilledink#typewriter #instapoet#creativewriting #prose#instapoetry

A collection of pictures to remind myself that being chronically ill and disabled is sometimes just...weird. We do weird things for the sake of comfort, to help us throughout the day. I stick heating pads on my clothes and my head and my stomach and my body in general to ease muscle aches. Why? Because Secondary Raynaud's - I cannot tolerate cold. At all. No way.
Sometimes I just don't want to take more pain needs than I have too. That's okay. We're just human. We're not a fate worse than death.
So I take pictures to remind myself that when I'm having a flare and feeling sorry for myself, I can look back and remember that I've gotten through pain before - I can get through it again. But that doesn't mean I will say no to resting - hardly. If I just can't function, I can't function. There's nothing wrong with that. Our society lovingly tells us that us disabled folks that if we slack, we're a waste on society. Well fuck you - I will do what what I want to help me through the day, whether that means using heating pads or taking three naps in front of the television. *
REPOST! --Credit to @cg_blade : With exciting anticipation of Ash's debut in 10 days, we are offering a 5 day #FREE promotion of #Onyx!!! Read the beginnings of Ash and how Eric Calderon Zuniga (Zuni), and his coven of witches got their start in the #Pseudoverse This is the first, and last time we will be offering Onyx for free!!! This is a $4.00 value free for 5 days only starting tomorrow! Scroll down to read a blurb about this Egyptian tale of lore that begins with one woman's innocence and ends up engulfing the entire planet with black liquid and ever-growing darkness.
In this fourth thriller in the Pseudoverse Series novels, we take you into an ancient time and new direction. Caught between the past and the present, a young archaeologist is thrust forward into the future as a pawn in a twisted game hosted by the corrupt, the greedy, and the underworld. In this fourth novel in our Pseudoverse, the year is 2049, twenty-seven years before Cobalt. Who was the very first Pseudosynth? A detective working a case of murders become a casualty of Ray Nelson’s early work as we follow her and her partner through the wasteland of lies, cover-ups, and mummified remains. This thrilling and mysterious follow-up to Emerald will have you on the edge of your seat as we unveil who was ‘the first genetically engineered conscious being’ in this tale of Egyptian lore turned painfully bloody, and cubed. "I have been reading much of CG Blade writings since he asked me to beta read Chrome. Being the sixth novel in the Pseudoverse series, I wanted to at least read the first novel. I am a chronically ill person, so reading is not something that happens every day, nor does writing...consequently, why my FB has gone dead. C'est la vie. I was able to get Cobalt and Crimson under my belt but sorely wish now that I could have read them all first since Onyx was slightly revealed in Chrome, and is my favorite novel for many reasons. - The ascension scene at the end of Onyx will never leave your mind or heart. I cheered and cried. These novels are entirely unique.” Kate D. Amazon Review
The reaction when I tell people “this is going to be the best book written by a human being, ever!”
Which book should I read next? 🤔 I’m really leaning toward THUG at the moment but No Saints in Kansas sounds like it’s gonna be a really good read 🙈 What would you pick?

Yay, finally! A #scifiloop thanks to @authorrkhiggins just for our little speculative, futuristic community of glorious weirdos and geniuses! Tell me all about yourselves (and your WiP if you’re a writer!)
I’ve been a sci-fi fanatic since my inception, devouring Clarke, E. E. Smith, Asimov, Bradbury, HG Wells, Verne, Ursula LeGuin, Dick, Herbert, and any other classic sci-fi I could absorb with my eyeballs. I prefer sci-fi movies and shows over all other genres. It’s safe to call it an obsession.
I’ve written six books, but didn’t delve into sci-fi until I felt my abilities had been sufficiently polished. I wanted to cut my teeth first, to be sure I could do it justice.
And now, I am 95,000 words into my space opera. I’m so excited to finish and polish it. I’ve never been so proud of a book, especially while in the first draft trenches. Sci-fi rocks!
#fantasywipfebruary asks: Who is your biggest fan?
It might be a little pretentious to claim she’s my biggest fan, since I haven’t actually asked her, but one of my biggest supporters has always been my sister, Julia (@julia.makes.art). From the time we co-authored picture books when we were little (like the famous Hot Air Balloon book about an elephant who reinflates a downed hot air balloon), she has always been ready to help me sort out story ideas. She’s often my first beta-reader, and gets the exclusive versions no one else sees. AND she draws concept art for me sometimes, like this amazing line drawing for a novella I haven’t finished yet.
Back when we both had gobs of time on our hands, I used to read my stories out loud to her, and she’d give me suggestions on how to improve. Now, that just doesn’t fit into our schedules anymore, but she’s still an amazing supporter. And a super-talented artist! In fact, for all you authors out there, if you’re looking for some concept art or frameable book quotes, she does take commissions...
As far as sheer fangirlism goes, @kateflournoy wins the prize. She and her sister Emma supported me through the publication of “Coal: A Christmas Story” (still available on Wattpad!). I cannot put into words how meaningful it is to have “fans.” People who tell you what your stories mean to them, who get excited over your characters, who make fanart and send fan mail and all that. To all those out there who consider themselves part of a fandom, never underestimate your power to encourage and inspire creators. Your enthusiasm keeps us creating.
Mom you’re so funny 💁🏽♀️ Yeah I guess I am 😂
#happysaturday y’all 🌸❤️

🎬 Thought this was pretty cool. It gives a boring parking garage the wow factor.
Voi siete le mie parole.
I miei cieli sconfitti,
corpi come altalene sui mari.
Le corse folli sul tempo.
Le librerie della conoscenza,
risate impresse sul vino.
Gli occhi fluenti dei miei sbagli,
le ascetiche rivalse dell' oblio.
Siete le pulsazioni vibranti del sangue,
le cornee scalfite dai seni,
le tele incompiute dello spirito.
L' imbarazzo di una scelta.
Siete custodi di figli sugli alberi.
Le labbra dell'energia,
le anfore della Vita,
nutrici del destino che sconfigge gli orologi.
Voi siete l' Immortalità.
Voi siete le donne che ho amato.
