The push press is one of the best strength exercises that needs to be added to your routine❗️
The push press is an explosive fully body movement, working both the upper and lower body. 
_

What makes the push press unique is the fact that it allows you to train for power, by generating force from the ground up. If you are not training for power in the gym, you are limiting your strength potential. Strength=Power.

The push press is performed by beginning with the bar at about shoulder height, and feet engaged with the floor. ✅The movement is performed by dipping to generate lower body power, and then explosively driving your feet into the floor, powering the bar up, allowing the upper body to complete the movement. 
Slowly control the bar back down to the starting position and repeat.
☑️Remember- this is an explosive movement and so your tempo should be explosive, meaning, as quick as possible without breaking form.

On the weight loss side is a smaller portion of meat and spaghetti squash. You can always include rice if you prefer it but spaghetti squash makes it easy to add volume for not a lot of calories. I also used chicken breasts instead of chicken thighs. Some of you may have noticed that I use mainly chicken thighs in my recipes. This is because they are higher in fat than chicken breasts. Because of the way microwaves heat up your food, meats that are higher in fat will reheat better in the microwave. Chicken breast gets that dry and rubbery texture because microwaving it can strip it from all of its juices. .

On the weight gain side is a larger serving of meat with chicken thighs and rice instead of squash. Keep in mind that you need to adjust serving sizes to fit your needs. If you are 300lb powerlifter trying to gain strength, a 700 calorie meal might not cut it for you. You need to use judgment when you portion out your meals. Think about your goals and how you can manipulate the dials of your nutrition to help reach them.

Got back on the horse today. And by horse, I mean treadmill. After 3 days off. But I'm also not giving myself a hard time about it because I did closer to 4 miles that day and I have been having horrible leg and hip days ever since. Today honestly wasn't much better. My feet were dragging for the last half. By the end I was just keeping myself upright with pure upper body strength. But I did it! Now to have a shower and then some breakfast and coffee is in order.

Let’s talk a little bit about training smarter. The bar I’m using in this video is a safety squat bar. Specialty bars are a must have for a gym, any gym for that matter. The reason is it allows us to train while working with limitations. For example: if my shoulders were so tight that putting my hands into position with an Olympic barbell creates pain or at some point throughout the movement makes for poor mechanics, I’ve got a problem. So while I’m implementing the proper procedures to deal with my shoulder limitations I can use a speciality bar in order to still train my legs and not lose any headway in that area while trying to rectify another. Dr. Miguel Vargas, Physical Therapist, graduated from San Francisco State University with a Kinesiology degree and emphasis in Exercise Science and Motor Control, before pursuing his Doctorate in Physical Therapy at California State University Fresno. Miguel spent 8 years as a member of the United States Army were he served as an Infantryman and completed a 15 month tour in Iraq as a heavy machine gunner, grenadier and Alpha team leader of a line unit.
