On the weight loss side is a smaller portion of meat and spaghetti squash. You can always include rice if you prefer it but spaghetti squash makes it easy to add volume for not a lot of calories. I also used chicken breasts instead of chicken thighs. Some of you may have noticed that I use mainly chicken thighs in my recipes. This is because they are higher in fat than chicken breasts. Because of the way microwaves heat up your food, meats that are higher in fat will reheat better in the microwave. Chicken breast gets that dry and rubbery texture because microwaving it can strip it from all of its juices. .
On the weight gain side is a larger serving of meat with chicken thighs and rice instead of squash. Keep in mind that you need to adjust serving sizes to fit your needs. If you are 300lb powerlifter trying to gain strength, a 700 calorie meal might not cut it for you. You need to use judgment when you portion out your meals. Think about your goals and how you can manipulate the dials of your nutrition to help reach them.

Got back on the horse today. And by horse, I mean treadmill. After 3 days off. But I'm also not giving myself a hard time about it because I did closer to 4 miles that day and I have been having horrible leg and hip days ever since. Today honestly wasn't much better. My feet were dragging for the last half. By the end I was just keeping myself upright with pure upper body strength. But I did it! Now to have a shower and then some breakfast and coffee is in order.

#MeetTheTeam! Today we are featuring MIGUEL VARGAS, DPT, CSCS, Doctor of Physical Therapy, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Lymphedema Specialist, Clinical Director, Salinas.
Dr. Miguel Vargas, Physical Therapist, graduated from San Francisco State University with a Kinesiology degree and emphasis in Exercise Science and Motor Control, before pursuing his Doctorate in Physical Therapy at California State University Fresno. Miguel spent 8 years as a member of the United States Army were he served as an Infantryman and completed a 15 month tour in Iraq as a heavy machine gunner, grenadier and Alpha team leader of a line unit.
He first became interested in physical therapy during his transition back to civilian life in which he would occasionally take his fellow Soldiers to their rehabilitation appointments. He felt that as a physical therapist there was more he could do to help returning Veterans than he ever could while in the service. Miguel has always committed himself to clinical excellence and lifelong learning and uses the most current Evidence-Based practice and functional training. As a Salinas Native, he is committed to serving his community in the best possible manner.

AMRAP - This mode of training requires you to push yourself to do as many reps or rounds as possible within a certain time limit, with rest in between rounds. This is a full body HIIT session so the exercises should reflect that by targeting all of the major muscle groups.

= 1 ROUND, DO AS MANY ROUNDS AS POSSIBLE WITHIN 12MIN, 1MIN REST IN-BETWEEN ROUNDS
There are many variations of this HIIT workout that include weights, gym machines, compound exercises. My AMRAP workout this morning consisted of:
Leg Press 3min
Leg curl 3min
Seated Cable Row 3min
Incline Bench Press 3min
1min rest in between each exercise
This left me completely shattered and feeling like Bambi! Main benefits are enhanced muscle conditioning while burning off that stubborn fat at the same time! 😤👍
Should not be considered if you are just only starting out your exercise program. Spend 3-6 months minimum building up your muscle strength and conditioning before attempting this.
