I blame the sunshine!🌞🙌 I wasn’t supposed to run for 7 days after ALQ... but when it’s 65 and sunny in February?!?!🤷♀️ Recovery is so important, especially after such a long race, but I. JUST. COULDN’T pass up this gorgeous day!!!😍 PLUS... it’s been 6 days... which is almost 7 days... right?🤔😁 Keeping my runs short for the next week or two will be key, but when it’s beautiful out?! Ya just gotta run🏃♀️😊 Happy Friday guys!!! I hope you have an amazing weekend!!!🎉💃💜
"Be stubborn about your goals, but flexible about your method."
As an amputee runner I've learnt to be flexible when it comes to my training. Yesterday my 50 miler training called for a 20 mile run but a mile into my run I started having issues with my stump and blade and I knew a 20 mile run was going to be impossible on my blade. I was super disappointed at first but then my #dontquit mind kicked in and I came up with another way to get my miles done. I drove home, changed legs and power hiked the 20 miles on a foot that is around 15 years old and was never designed for this kind of activity. The foot now has a few extra squeaks to it but I got my miles done💪#noexcuses. 20 miles power hike = 44842 steps😉
New blade socket coming in the next few weeks so it should solve my stump/blade issues😊.
A little glimpse into what my life as a #teengirlmama and a #toddlerboymama and a #leowife is like on Saturdays. While dad's away working in yet another snow storm, here we are holding down the fort and trying not to kill each other from #cabinfever 🌬🌨.
It has been a fun (and productive) day with my babies 😊.
✨LONG RUN: 7 miles, average pace 8:07 min/mile.✔️ I finally found a sidewalk in town that was 90% snow-free.🙌 in today’s run I was aiming for 8 miles, but cut it a little short due to daylight (aka procrastinating to get my 🍑 out the door😂). this past week has certainly been very low mileage, compared to previous weeks. the weather is definitely putting a damper on my running game...😏❄️ I hope it all melts soon🤞 but it looks like more snow is in next week’s forecast.😬🙈 at least I got off the couch and have remained active.👍
Another play date in the mountains tomorrow...🏔🏂☃️ I hope you are all having a safe and relaxing Saturday night. cheers!✨
Finally getting my rhythm back!!! 🎉🏃🏾♀️
Anyone close to me knows I was going through such a stressful time a couple weeks back. It’s crazy how GOOD my body now feels that I’ve stepped back from the stress, and really focused on recovering and embracing the change. I was dealing with ongoing injuries that just wouldn’t go away. My body was so tense all the time, most of my runs felt really difficult, like I had to work extra hard to hit paces and mileage. I’m so relieved to finally see improvements in my running and on my mood. ♥️
I kept pushing today’s workout to the next day, the next, and so on. Until today, when I knew I needed to get it done. It was going to be even harder because I decided to do an already hard workout, on a super hilly course. I had set zero expectations and just let me body do the work. Man, can I just tell you, I felt great and even strong again! Like, myself and I haven’t felt that way in a longgggg time! 🙌🏾
12 miles | 8:02 avg. hill strides + fartleks + tempo
This started out as an idea for an advocacy project for my senior capstone class...now I want to make it a reality!
The goal is this fundraiser is to try to remove some of the barriers of a healthier lifestyle for these kids. The goal is 100 pairs of new or gently-used shoes. Money raised will go towards purchasing shoe and clothes bins for donation collection and materials to spread the word. Anything over this will go towards new shoes.
Any dollar amount will help. I greatly appreciate any and all support!
Cheers to running!
I spent most of my Saturday popping tylenol like candy thanks to a pounding headache and chills. But thanks to the hubby I was able to take a much needed uninterrupted nap. I ended up going for a 4 mile run up and down Wagon Wheel Rd. to sweat out whatever this is and actually feel a little better. Even got the crown in that segment! I guess the day wasn't wasted away after all.
What do you do when you get to @bulldog_bootcamp too early....? KOM Hunt 😜 .
Swipe right to see the video. Who would have thought we’d have a crowd 😂
For anyone new to running you can track your run using @strava and segments are created where there is a leaderboard, good fun 🤙🏻
